Welcome to Hotel Santo
Diving
The SS President Coolidge was a luxury liner converted for use as a troop
ship in 1942. Entering the Segond Canal, Santo, she hit an American mine.
The Captain ran the disabled ship onto the nearby reefs where she rolled
on her port side and slipped backwards over the reef, setting in the
bottom of the canal. Today the SS President Coolidge is home for a myriad
of fish life including Nessy the Moray eel.
Just down the way is Million Dollar point. Here at the end of the military
war equipment was dumped in the most expensive trash pile of the world.
Around the corner, off Malo Island is the wreck of the destroyer USS
Tucker.
